We respect your privacy and comply with the Privacy Act 2020 (New Zealand). This policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your personal information in connection with our services in New Zealand.
1. Information We Collect
We collect information you provide (e.g. name, phone number, email, payment details, trip details, and food orders) and information generated from your use of the app (e.g. device identifiers, precise location (GPS) when you use location-based features, and usage data). We do this to provide and improve our services, process bookings and orders, and communicate with you.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use your information to operate the OMG service (rides and food / bites) in New Zealand, including matching you with drivers, processing payments, sending trip and order notifications, improving the app, and meeting legal and safety obligations.
3. Disclosure
We may share your information with drivers, restaurants, and other service providers necessary to fulfil your bookings and orders, with payment processors, and where required by New Zealand law or to protect rights and safety. Where applicable, we share your precise location with other users and service providers to enable ride matching, pickup/drop-off, and real-time trip tracking. We do not sell your personal information to third parties for their marketing.
4. Your Rights (Privacy Act 2020)
Under the Privacy Act 2020 you have the right to access and correct your personal information. You may request access or correction through the app or by contacting us. If you are not satisfied, you may complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner (New Zealand).
You may also request deletion of your account and personal information by contacting us at info@omgrides.co.nz. We will respond in accordance with applicable law and may retain certain information where required for legitimate business purposes (for example, fraud prevention, security, and legal compliance).
5. Security and Retention
We take reasonable steps to protect your information in line with New Zealand privacy standards. We use secure network connections (HTTPS/TLS) to help protect information during transmission. We retain your information for as long as needed to provide the service and to meet legal and regulatory requirements in New Zealand.
6. Payments and Card Details
Card payments in the OMG app are processed by third-party payment providers such as Stripe. We do not store your full card number or CVV in our systems. When you complete a card payment, our payment provider may create a secure payment method token and associate it with your OMG account so you can use the same card for future trips, orders, wallet top-ups, and subscriptions without re-entering your details. You can choose a different card at any time during checkout.
